Friday, January 28, 2011 Sick, Sick, Sick

Sick, Sick, Sick
HIGH: A nice day playing with my babies all day long :)
LOW: It is my last official day of maternity leave :( AND Oliver is still sick :(
My poor baby is still sick!  He had me up all night last night.  The poor thing just could not get comfy.  He had a fever all night but none today so hopefully we are getting near the end.  Poor kid, even his hair looks sick!
I can still get a smile out of him though :)

Claire was right by his side again today, making sure he was ok.  He looks pitiful here doesn't he?

Thursday, January 27, 2011 Movin' On

Movin' On
HIGH: Claire and I got the basement and her room organized :)
LOW: Today was Claire's last day in her classroom :(

Today was Claire's last day in her classroom (that she has been in since June).  Since she is going from part time to full time she has to move to another room.  We really like the teacher she is going to have and I am sure she will do fine.  But, we are going to miss her teachers now and we are really going to miss her friends.  Especially Kazu.  Kazu and Claire have been together since they were in the infant room and it breaks my heart that they are not going to be together anymore.  But, to be honest I think Mark and I are having a harder time with this move than Claire is.   She is excited to be with some of her old friends and with her new teacher.  She is the best.

As for my sick baby, he is still sick!  He was ok all day today.  He will play and took two decent naps but he still has a low grade temp.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a new day and  he will feel MUCH better!

Wednesday, January 26, 2011 Sick Baby

Sick Baby
HIGH: Claire had a nice time playing at Nana and Papa's house :)
LOW: Oliver is sick :(

Last night when I was putting Oliver to bed, I noticed that he had a little cough.  Thinking nothing of it I kissed him goodnight and got ready for bed.  Well, that didn't last long.  My poor baby woke up with a fever and bad cough.  I was up snuggling him most of the night.  Today, I took him to the doctor and of course it is a virus and they think he has a tooth coming in.
He only wants to sleep if he is all propped up like this.  Poor baby.
So we strapped him into his swing  so that he could sleep upright.  He slept pretty good in there. He did wake up a few times so that I would rock him and pat him so that he could cough up some stuff.  Also, he was thirsty because of his fever.  My poor little guy.
Claire on the other hand, had a great day!  She went to Nana and Papa's while I took Oliver to the doctor (no need for her to be in a germy place if she doesn't need to be).   She loved the one on one time.  This is her favorite dress that Nana got her.  It lights up and she thinks that this is just the BEST!

Hopefully Oliver will feel better tomorrow!

Tuesday, January 25, 2011 Budget

Budget
HIGH: Oliver did great on his first full day of school :)
LOW: I missed my babies all day :(
Today both of the kids went to school all day.  Oliver did great!  He ate and slept well for his new teachers.  I had a nice day getting my hair done, visiting with Shannon, and relaxing all day ALONE!  It was nice but I missed my babies.
As soon as Claire got home she was all business.  Yesterday Papa come over to do some paperwork so, now Claire is all about "paperwork".  She keeps saying that she has to work on her budget.
She even asked me for a "grown up pen" to do her budget.  Claire sat there forever working on her budget and telling my how important it was that she does this work.  She is going to be just like her Daddy :)

Monday, January 24, 2011 First Day Of School

First Day Of School
HIGH: Daddy got a day off because it was sooo cold outside :)
LOW: Everyone got the day off except Oliver :(
Today was Oliver's first day of school.  I don't go back to work until next week but we wanted to start him a little at a time while I am still home so that we can have a smooth transition.  He had a good day!  He napped at school so that is great!  He was only there for a few hours but he did great!
Poor Oliver was the only one who had school today.  Our school district closed the schools because it was -20 degrees.  That actually worked out well though because Mark and I got to take Oliver to school together.
We did a little science experiment (what else would two teachers do on a cold day).  Mark took a mug of boiling water and threw it up in the air.  It was so cold that the water instantly turned to snow!  It was super cool!!!!!

Sunday, January 23, 2011 Spiders

Spiders
HIGH: Claire takes care of spiders for me :)
LOW: Daddy had a lot of work to do :(
Claire is so tough.  Most little girls are afraid of spiders.  Not my baby! She spotted one, ran over and got Daddy's boot and smooshed him!!  It was hilarious!
Finally, Oliver rolled over on Friday!!!!  He was a little late on the rolling over.  He was would always get soooo close and then just flip back.  He is still not super into rolling around but he is definitely scooching around to get what he wants.  I cannot believe how fast he is growing up!!!

Saturday, January 22, 2011 Tent Party

Tent Party
HIGH: We had a nice day going to swim lessons and playing around the house :)
LOW: I didn't get any good pictures at swim lessons today :(
Today was our usual swim lessons and  breakfast.  Afterward we just came home and hung out around the house all day.  After church we stopped at the grocery store and grabbed some tuna steaks for dinner.  We had a delicious dinner and chatted about the future.  We chatted about when the kids are bigger and all the fun stuff we will do.  We chatted about going to church every week and then taking the kids to the grocery store to pick out special stuff for dinner and then we can all cook together.  I look back on my own family memories and it warms my heart to think that we are starting to have our own memories.  My babies will grow up and look back on these small things that we do together with a smile and so will I :)

After our delicious dinner we went upstairs to play in Claire's room.   Claire got this tent for Christmas and LOVES it.  She puts all of her blankets and pillows in there will a bunch of her guys.  Now Oliver hangs out in there with her too and Pete stands guard.
Oliver loves it.  I sit outside the tent and just listen to them giggle.  It is my favorite sound in the whole world.
Here is Claire closing the door on me so that "we can play by ourselves." I love these kids.
Can you believe how big Oliver is getting?!?!
Claire begged me and Mark to sleep in her tent all night long.  Finally, we said sure why not.  For a special Saturday treat.
Claire got her blankets, pillows, and special flashlight and she was READY!  She was so excited!!  She got all cozy and we kissed her goodnight.
About 20 minutes later I went in to check on her and here is how I found her.  In her bed :)  When we asked her why she got in her bed, she said "I just wanted to sleep in my bed."

Friday, January 21, 2011 My Guys

My Guys
HIGH: A great night out with my favorite girls :)
LOW: I missed my babies at bedtime :(
Today was another usual relaxing day.  Tonight we had our last girlfriend birthday dinner for Jenn's birthday.  This is what my guys were doing went I left.  They were just chillin' on the floor and playing with toys.
I love these guys.

Thursday, January 20, 2011 Say Carrots!

Say Carrots!!
HIGH: Oliver got to meet his new teachers today :)
LOW: Claire may have to move to a new room :(
Today was a pretty average day.  Claire went to school and Oliver and I laid around all day and played.  So not too much exciting went on here.
Today while I was making dinner Oliver was chilling in his high chair.  Now...Oliver only fusses for one of three reasons.  Either he is tired, hungry, or bored.  So seeing as he had just woken up and he just ate I figured he was bored.  But I was making dinner and I really wanted him to stay in the high chair.  So while I was peeling the carrots, I figured I would just give him one to suck on.  As you can see...HE LOVED IT!!  He would bang it on the tray, suck on it, "talk" to it.  It was adorable!  Oliver loves his carrots (as you can see from his orange nose).

Wednesday, January 19, 2011 Tricky Ladies

Tricky Ladies
HIGH: A nice playdate with Giada :)
LOW: That book shelf is still not done :(
I think one of the worst parts about going back to work is that Claire will be going to school full time.  The school part isn't the worst part, Claire LOVES school and can't wait.  This means less playdates with her Bestie Giada.  I am sure we will still have tons of playdates but right now we spend A LOT of time together and I am really going to miss that.
Love these girls!!!
These ladies can be tricky.  I turned my back for a second and all of a sudden I found them in the downstairs shower in costume.  Just sittin' there chatting.  I love these girls.

Tuesday, January 18, 2011 Brother and Sister

Brother and Sister
HIGH: Oliver and I hung out and enjoyed one of our last days of maternity leave :)
LOW: The clock is ticking for me to go back to work :(

Today we just relaxed and played all day.  Claire had school and we missed her.  I am pretty sure that Oliver misses her just as much (if not more) than I do.  Oliver and Claire are buddies.  When I get Oliver up in the morning the first thing he does is look over my shoulder to see if Claire is there.  Claire feels the same way about Oliver.  She is always playing with him and trying to make him smile.
Claire loves to read to Oliver and sing him songs.  She provides excellent entertainment.  Here she is reading him her favorite
book :)
I love to watch the two of them hang out and make each other happy.  I really hope that they stay buddies!  I have visions of the two of them playing together until they are older.  Then I have visions of Claire helping Oliver with girl trouble and giving him advice.  I think of Oliver helping Claire fix stuff in her room and putting gas in her car for her. I see them sticking together and covering for each other so that they don't get in trouble (not that I promote this but it does make me smile a little).  I just always want them to realize that they will always have each other and how important that is.

Monday, January 17, 2011 Still Paintin'

Still Paintin'
HIGH: Got some more work done on the bookshelf :)
LOW: I am STILL painting that bookshelf :(
Since the bookshelf is taking me forever I decided to get some help.  Claire was more than willing to lend a hand.
It is not about how fast I get this done or how great it looks, as long as we have fun painting it right?!

Sunday, January 16, 2011 Family Time

Family Time
HIGH: Two great family parties today :)
LOW: I wish that we could have been at both parties the whole time :(
Today we had some great family time.  We had two great birthday parties.  The first party was Uncle Johnny's birthday.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE JOHNNY!!
The fam.
John cut the cake and then Greg made a wish.
Greg fed Oliver his first bottle (Greg's not Oliver's :).
Oliver loved sitting at the big people table.
I don't have too many pictures of Claire because she was too busy with her favorite Uncle Johnny.

After cake for John we headed to Joe's birthday party.  HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY JOE!
Oliver loved snuggling up with Katie.  He just laid with her for about two hours just staring at her and playing with her hair (I think we have a little ladies man on our hands).
Then Mark spent some time showing the boys how to roll their pants old school.
They worked so hard and they finally got it!
Overall, it was a great day.  I love spending time with my family and it was a double bonus to see everyone in one day!

Saturday, January 15, 2011 Bully In The Pool

Bully In The Pool
HIGH: Mark and I had a wonderful night out with friends :)
LOW: We missed our babies :(

Today we had our Saturday swim lessons.  Oliver is doing so well! He really loves the water and enjoys splashing around.
I am still working on the settings on my camera so that I can get better pictures.
Claire loves to watch her brother swim.  She cheers him on the whole time, it is adorable.
 My fishies.

After Oliver's lesson Claire goes in for her lesson.  That is when Mark swims a few laps and then when he is done I run upstairs and get a quick work out in while Claire plays in the pool after her lesson.  Sounds crazy but it works out really well for the family.  Today while I was working out I was watching through the window that overlooks the pool and I could see what every mother dreads.  A HUGE boy (ok he was like 4 and 1/2) picking on my baby girl.  I could just tell by the body language that this kid was being mean to my baby.  I wanted to bang on the window and scream at the kid.  But, I am firm believer that some kids need to work things out on their own.  Well, the kid eventually swam away and Claire looked hurt but went back about her business.  Mark was right there and said it wasn't too bad,  the kid just called her a name.  Mark and I reviewed how to handle the situation next time and used the teachable moment to help for next time.  But, I am not gonna lie...I wanted to find that kid and yell at him.  Then I wanted to go and yell at his mother for raising a kid that would be so mean.  But I didn't.   And after spending a few hours explaining to Claire that not ALL big kids are mean, she was over it.

Later that night Claire and Oliver slept over at Grandma's and Mark and I had a nice dinner ALONE and then we met some friends out.  Overall, it was a great day and night (well minus the big bully at the pool).

Friday, January 14, 2011 Boys

Boys
HIGH: Dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house :)
LOW: I haven't finished the bookshelf yet :(

Not too much went on today.  We played, I painted, and we went to dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  Usually, I just take a ton of pictures and then decide what to write about based on my pictures.  Well, today after reviewing the pictures I have decided to write about boys.
Boys are very different than girls.  Oliver is very different from Claire.  Claire was patient and independent.  Oliver is a little more needy and well..not so patient.  Let me state that I love them both just the same!! That being said, boys are definitely different than girls.  Claire would play quietly with same toy for hours.  Oliver, on the other hand will play with a toy for a long time too but you HEAR him the whole time!  He is always babbling and then he will just scream for no reason.  No reason whatsoever just scream and then laugh.  I love it!  Claire has the same personality as her father and I think that Oliver is going to be more like me :)
Here two of some other Komo boys.
After a nice dinner, Daddy put Oliver (and himself) to sleep :)
I had a perfect girl.
And now I have a perfect boy.

Thursday, January 13, 2011 Paintin'

Paintin'
HIGH: I started repainting the bookshelf that Santa brought :)
LOW: I didn't get as far as I wanted to :(

Today I finally started painting Claire's new bookshelf from Santa.  He didn't have time to paint it before Christmas morning ;)  I am painting it white and I cannot wait to have it done so that I can organize Claire's katrillion books.  Unfortunately, I only got one coat done before Oliver woke up.  I finally got him back down and then Claire got home.  So I will have to finish another day :)

Wednesday, January 12, 2011 Getting Creative

Getting Creative
HIGH: Claire and I had fun with some creative play :)
LOW: We are getting sick of being stuck in the house :(

Today we were just plain bored.  We didn't feel like playing with the same old toys or even watching tv.  And it was way too cold to go outside.  So, in a desperate attempt to keep Claire actively engaged I filled up with sink with some soapy water and threw in some tupperware and let her go to town!
SHE LOVED IT!!!  Claire played in the sink for like an hour!
  It was perfect!
Claire loved making the water soapy and pouring the water everywhere :)
Claire loved "washing the dishes".

Later that evening Nana and Papa were coming over for dinner.  While I was making dinner Claire came running into the kitchen dressed like this:
Mark made me censor this picture before I could put it on the blog.
Claire ran around the house singing and leaping.  When I asked her what she was doing (after I stopped laughing and taking pictures) and she sang "I AM A FAIRY!!!  NOT A HUMAN BUT A FAIRY!!!"  I love this kid and her awesome imagination.

Today was also Claire's first parent teacher conference.  She is doing great and we are very pleased.  The teachers are very impressed with the language skills :)
