K..On The Right Track

With everyone being sick, we have been cooped up in this house and let's just say we are all starting to get cabin fever.  The kids were getting sick of their usual toys and I was getting sick of the TV.  Then I remembered an idea that my friend at work had.
I laid down blue painter's tape all over the floor in the family room.  Then I showed Oliver that is was a track.  Let's just say he was THRILLED!!!  He got out all of his trucks and had a blast.
Then Claire got really into it too.  She got out all of her houses and put them along the track.  She even found the trees from our dinosaur set put them along the track too.  Then she grabbed a train and her and Oliver spent over an hour just pushing their trains and cars on the track.  They would stop at a house every now and then to play or at the fire station.  It was super adorable and it kept them busy for an over an hour!  Which gave me time to disinfect every toy and surface in the house.

One of the perks of being locked in the house all week was it gave me a chance to get some of my projects done.  Here is one that I found on Pinterest .
I went to a craft store and bought a letter K.
Then I painted it black.
And quickly learned to put it up on soup cans so that it doesn't stick to the paper (thanks Mom).
Then I printed up tons of pictures of my family in black and white.  I printed them on regular printer paper, nothing fancy.  Then I arranged them on the K (this was the hardest part) and then Modge Podged on there.  It came out so sweet!  This is going to be the center of my picture wall to get me started!  I can't wait!!

PS I have ALWAYS wanted to do a crafty post like this :)

Sick, Sick, Sick

Well the long awaited February break is upon us!  And guess what?  The kids are sick!  It started with Oliver last Thursday.  Poor guy.  He had the fever, boogery nose, and couldn't sleep.  Which means he was MISERABLE and we were not sleeping either.  Well, yesterday he started to show some improvement.  And guess what?  Yep, Claire got sick!
Poor thing.  I will say this though, she is pretty tough.  And she is a much better patient than Oliver (sorry buddy).  Oliver just gets frustrated and angry when he is sick. Nothing makes him happy. Claire just wants to lay around and relax.  So, last night Oliver finally slept through the night and guess who didn't?  That would be Claire.  Today she seems much better.  As long as she has her ibuprofen she seems to do alright.
Oliver is on an upswing (knock on wood) and seems to be getting better.  This morning he ate some breakfast and played for a while without whining or getting angry.  His new thing is that he flips anything over and makes it a track for his trains.  Here is Claire's chair as a track.
His cheeks are still a little pink and his nose is still running but he is fighting through it!
This what my house looks like after 6 days of sickness no sleep.
Oliver and Claire were really excited about their tent being put in the living room.  But Oliver was not thrilled when I attached the tunnel to the side of it.  That is, until he realized that you could crawl through it!
Even sick they still have fun together.  I am pretty sure that I going have to lysol the heck out of this tent when they are finished with it but, at least they had some fun.

Say a prayer everyone gets better soon!  AND SLEEPS!!!!

Petey & Some Crafts

Oliver has been loving Pete lately.  He calls him Petey and just adores him.  The other day Oliver really wanted to play with Pete so Mark and I got some toys our for them.
Oliver was really excited to play with Petey's toys.
But he didn't really understand how to play with Petey.
So Claire showed him how.  She made Pete sit and then threw him his duck.
Pete got his duck and was thrilled!
Oliver, not so much.  I am not sure if he wanted to keep Pete's toy or if he thought Pete was hurting the toy.  Either way, he was NOT happy!
When Pete wouldn't give the duck back, Oliver went and got another one of Pete's toys.  Then he tried to play with it like Pete does.  Which means chewing on it (gross).  So we had Oliver make Pete sit and then throw it for him.
Then Pete got it and that was the end of that toy.
Besides playing with Pete we have been pretty crafty around here.  Claire and I spent some time painting more shapes in the playroom.
Then I decided to do handprints.  But I wasn't thrilled with that.
So I made Claire's handprints into flowers.
We left Oliver's as tulips because it was pretty tough to get him to cooperate to make 4 handprints for each flower.
I think they came out pretty cute, probably because my kids have the cutest hands :)
After we were done and cleaned up all the paint we just played.  And of course, I took some pictures :)
Oliver loved riding his bike, even though his feet don't reach the pedals.
I have been slightly obsessed with Pinterest lately.  While spending an absurd amount of time there,  I found this great heart garland.  So I got all the stuff and Claire and worked on it for a few nights.  Claire loved helping me and I really enjoyed doing this project.  And now I have some Valentine's Day decorations!
We made so much that I had some for my  mantel.
And my wet bar.  Like my robe?

Wait until you see the project I am currently working on!  I am waiting until I am finished to post it!  It is adorable!

So basically we have just been hanging out, doing crafty stuff, and playing with Pete.  Yep, that's about it and I like it that way!

Oh yeah, Oliver and I stayed home sick today.  Poor baby has a fever and a stuffy nose.
He slept until 12:30 and then he just wanted to watch Chugginton with his book, blanket, and juice.  He is soooo pathetic when he is sick!  He just wants to lay around and he acts all sad.  God love him.
